Titanic’s Captain -Short Story

This is a little fiction about Captain Edwards J. Smith, the captain of Titanic when she sank. This whole interaction is fictional and there are no records of if the Captain believed any of this and the records regarding his fate are controversy. This is just my fictional take on him and his fate from the viewpoint of Titanic.

Nonetheless, it is her sinking anniversary, so I’m posting it today. Enjoy.

Bradley and Titanic were relaxing on this cool evening. The moon was low and full, the waters flat and peaceful, the sky clear and calming. They sat together in each other’s arms. Violet was asleep, Britannic was being repaired, and Olympic was probably off catching up on whatever she’s been missing out on. Bradley was enjoying the moment but something was nagging at him, it had been for weeks. It was something to do with Titanic and her famous voyage, so he tried not to ruin anything, but this just wouldn’t stop nagging him. So he asked.
“Titanic, honey?”
“Yes, dear?”
“Ah, nevermind.” He couldn’t figure out how to word it.
“No, dear, what’s the matter?” She thought it might be something romantic, something dreamy.
“Ah.” He sighed. “So how did Captain Smith react to you sinking.”
“Oh.” She was disappointed, but not by much. She knew how he was. “Yes, Captain Smith.” She didn’t know how to explain it, so instead she offered to show him through her memory. Bradly accepted her request to have his answer. He joined with her and instantly was with her in a flashback-imagination trip. It isn’t all that often that they do this but when they do conjoin their minds he takes no time to become a size enough to wrap his arms around her and hold her hull. As he pressed their bodies together Titanic played back her memory. Their bodies chilled to a near freezing temperature as they grew heavy, shudders and fear enveloped them and tormented their thoughts, but amidst all this Bradley knew this wasn’t real, that this wasn’t happening again. During these trips Titanic usually loses her sight and arms, and she does lose them in thought this trip as well, but Bradley’s presence kept her demons at bay. His warmth on her hull, his imagined arms on her body softly stroking down her ribbed hull, his plush and hot lips planted in a kiss by her starboard bridge wing and kept her memories in check. She was still in control. Bradley was all sensual on her hull when he heard a strong voice echo in his mind.
“Titanic, this is my fault.” Without even having to ask his lover knew and told him who it was. That’s Captain Smith, dear. “I’m terribly sorry about this, -I, I wasn’t quite right in my head. I just wanted to end my career off with a show, give you a good name, and then maybe we’d both get a good deal out of this, eh? But no. I shouldn’t have been so demanding of you.”
“Sir?” Bradly recognized that voice, that booming voice was Titanic’s. The exact same one that he heard himself all those years ago on the bottom of the sea. Only this time her voice was more desperate; innocent in her tone of voice.
“It’s too late, deary, I have messed up. There is no way to reverse this, Mr. Anderson has proved it. I just hope that this isn’t your end, dear. You truly deserve much better than this.” Bradly felt a large, warm hand on one of her engine command posts. Sensual rubbing to calm her down began as he spoke. “I hope that if this is the end you go to a better place, you’re too innocent to know anything else.” Bradley could feel the anger rising inside him, Captain Smith. “I was a damned fool! You didn’t know any better-you couldn’t have known better! So much had gone wrong for you to understand the consequences, and I should have guided you! But no, no like a damn fool I cast those warnings aside! I pressed on! I never should have! Damned hell, I should have stopped in Queenstown!” He stepped away from the instruments. Titanic was silent. “The only thing I can do now, like any respectable Captain can do is comfort you as far as my breath will take it. Titanic, if I failed to see you to New York, the least I can do is see you to the end.” He paces around, he uncovered and rubbed his balding head with a clammy hand. “You’re so young, so new, so fresh. Just a greenhorn, no experien
ce of yer own. Not an ounce of wisdom. So new you’ve not one barnacle on your belly. But me? Dozens of voyages. Dozens of voyages aboard dozens of vessels. Titanic, please listen here, if by some miracle you have another chance you be damned sure that no godforsaken captain of yours makes the same mistakes I did! For the love of god you set him straight! If there’s another fire, another near collision, another warning of hazards, if your lookouts don’t have their binoculars you don’t move an inch. Promise me that, promise me you won’t let someone like me ruin you again?”
“I promise, sir.” The memory faded away, but Titanic kept them together in her mind, she told the rest of the story. He kept her company until the water was too much. The water flooded the room and before she could realize it he was gone not a trace of him was left. She couldn’t tell if he’d been washed out or if he’d drowned right then and there. All she knew then was that she was one person closer to being alone. Bradley asked her not to let go, to let him hold her for the rest of the night. She was going to ask the same.
Fin
Today I got back from a trip to the battleship museum BB-55, USS North Carolina, AKA The Showboat. I have probably three hundred pictures of her, she’s so beautiful. But if you guys want-or maybe I’ll do it anyway-I can post up the pictures and a little run-down of the trip. She’s really fantastic and one of my favorite museums to visit ever, if you are in the state you have to do it, you owe it to yourself. She is very affordable and very much worth it and more, with so much you can do you get more than your money’s worth out of it. The gift shop may be pricey with some stuff but hey, when you’ve gone through her you’ll be pretty inclined to support her. Take it from me I’m somewhat of a cheap bastard. She’s in Wilmington, North Carolina, on a little offshoot of I-74 I think, she’s not hard to find and easy to access. Going through all her spaces might not be for everyone but I’ve seen very large and small people all over her so if you have the will there is the way. (so tempted to put da wae meme in there but I didn’t, be proud pls) Anyways if you want more just ask!

Happy 2018 Part 2

* All CE’s are complete ahead of schedule. Now I have the rest of the month to draw porn and learn blender. Hooray!

I had another sexy story fantasy in my head months ago. The story was about an ageing airfield where older jets went about their lives, some working, some in retirement. One day a Dire jet adopts a young infant child and raises her as his own. She grows up accustomed to living machines, and doesn’t see them as big dangerous hulks like some of the human population are want to believe. One day, She is courted by an old blue F4 who desperately desires to have a human in his life. Worried about how to tell her father, She waits for him to land home, and sheepishly asks if it is ok to be “good” friends with the eligible bachelor planes living on the airfield. The father asks if she has anyone specific in mind, and the human woman clams up.

Father plane, Then confesses to his daughter that he adopted her because “I’ve been trying for 20 years to get a human to accept me. As you know, It is hard to win the hearts of humans. After soo much failure, I thought that If I could raise a child around our kind, she would see that we are good people too. Maybe one day, she would be the human who accepts the machine no other person would spare a second glance at. I had to become part of the solution.”

Through some extra prodding, he found out it was the Blue phantom that liked her. He still had to be a dad, watch out for riffraff and all that..  but the story ends with her sleeping with that sheepish blue Phantom nesting in the hangar next door. His tail sporting a sharp edged mobius.

I think adoption is something many machines would turn to, in order to acclimate more humans to their cause. The humanists on the other hand, are probably pissing blood knowing that this could happen.

*Movies** Ive gone to 4 of the most recent blockbuster movies and I have this to say:

1) Unless you just want a popcorn kids movie, you should avoid “Ready Player One.” To quote Ingo, The movie doesn’t know what audience it is truly for. Essentially a movie about nostalgia for  30+ year-olds, in a movie meant for 12 year-olds who have never seen or heard of the Delorean or Gremlins.  While I at the time thought it was a fun movie, I knew going into it, it was going to be a video game movie. As we all know, video game movies are terrible. 6/10

2) Black Panther. If you don’t like cape movies, skip this.  I care about the marvel movie verse simply because I’ve watched like 12 of the movies and now I feel like I should see Infinity war through the end (not every movie needs to be a film school masterpiece). knowing nothing about the comics, I had very little faith in black panther movie only to have my expectations subverted.  What I thought I was getting was an sjw movie, what I actually got was a really fun movie with great costume designs and great actors mostly taking place in the fictional futuristic African city of Wakanda. This movie has less action then say- Captain America did, but the proof is in how much heart went into developing the culture around Wakanda. Lots of dream sequences and men on armored Rhinos ready to kick ass. Fuck it I don’t care, loved this movie. 8/10

3) Annihilation : I don’t have much to say about today’s sci-fi movies, other then they tend to be very samey while relying on common tropes to keep the plot moving. Someone who is supposed to know better, pokes an alien, and everyone except the cute main character dies. This movie at first- seems to be like your usual tropish sci-fi, until the characters delve into the shimmer. This is where the movie gets good. The shimmer is an original take on corrupted alien influence that takes the survivors only as far as they can meet the source of the invasion. You think the movie will resolve with the main character triumphing over the shimmer and its strange influence, but the final climax spells a different picture. I wont spoil it anymore, but Do go see it at least once. theirs some original shit in this movie. 7/10

4) Isle of Dogs by Wes Anderson. This is the best movie so far all year. I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets nominated for an Oscar in some aspect of its make. Its not easy to describe the subtle nuance of the this animated movie without seeing it or being familiar with the director’s other works. The story is about a rivalry between a an old wealthy Japanese family and the one thing is hates the most: Dogs. It sends all of the Dogs in the city to an island of trash to starve to death. A savior in the form of an Orphaned boy, flies to trash isle in order to save his childhood pet, and the k9 uprising begins. Go see this movie if you can. Its great. 9/10

**Games completed**

1.) HZD: Frozen wilds: Just a quick summary, this DLC was pretty nice to play, heavy on content with new machines to kill and an all new cauldron to explore. I will say though, that If you’ve already finished the game, its more likely to feel like more of the same. That’s not a bad thing really, unless you have open world fatigue like I do. Still, this extends the base game out by 16 more hours in an already beefy experience. I liked it.

2.) Southpark; The fractured but Whole DLC Casa Bonita.  I’m not sure how to rate this. One one hand, we are talking about a 4-5 hour DLC max. Was that worth 25$? I’m not so sure it was- even if I did have fun. You fight new bosses and get to use a new team member – one of the cigarette smoking Goth kids who can summon Satan as her special super attack. Kenny tries his hardest to save his kid sister from the vamp kids birthday party and the whole thing culminates in a (spoiler) fight with Micheal Jackson.  Ubisoft still owes me one more piece of DLC. Until I can play that, its difficult to judge the true value of the season pass.

3.) What became of Edith finch: This game was billed as an Indy art game of a story about this cursed family who’s members died off in horrible, and mysterious ways. The game looked good, and the story was well narrated. You can reach the end in about 2 hours, making this a very short game you can mess around with on a half day. I’m not sure this game was for me however. Cant put my finger on it. I think maybe it was because of all the hype it received in 2017 that I thought it would be better then it was. Wait for a sale on this.

4.) Divinity original sin 2: Quite possibly one of the greatest Crpg’s ever made. So bursting with combat, encounters, shit to steal, and people to help. according to steam I messed around to the tune of 234 hours (that cant be right- I must have fell asleep with the game running..) This is the best value per time spent you can get. The new undead class is soo fun to play along side the cannibalistic elves, and holier then thou lizard race. Theirs tons of secret treasure to find, and topography you can bend to your will with the right magic. My only gripe with this game, Is that the ending was almost non-existent compared to the rest of the story-rich maps you play. Why couldn’t they have made the ending semi playable like in the first game? This isn’t really a reveille, I’m too lazy to write a proper one. In the meantime, Ive heard this is coming to ps4 so console gamers can enjoy it. Good on you Laurian studios. keep making these kick ass experiences.  9/10

Quality pass on Atoll lab notes:

Atoll Lab is officially complete. Here are the major changes you will find in the comics tab:
Page 3: credited cerebral error and gunnerrott
Page 29: censored explicit stuff with leaves
Page30: censored explicit panels with a new implied panel.
Page53: first few panels took out a piece of silent dialogue and messed with the opacity.
Page 19: Fixed some problem with rockets shoulder in the splash panel
Page 65: Contrast changes.
Page 6: contrast change, Small dialogue edit. Took “William” out. I don’t think that call out is really necessary.
I decided to let the first 15 pages go as far as contrast is concerned. Mostly because I am lazy, but also because it serves as a nice gradient to how I improved from beginning to end. Special thanks to Ghettodan who is working on the Russian translation of the comic for me now. If you are interested in reading Atoll lab in Russian Give me a response here.

Happy 2018 part 1

  • OK so I fucked up and should have posted 3 months ago when the New year was actually still the “New year”. But I figured I’d do it when I finished Divinity Original sin 2 for a review. To be honest I hate sitting down and writing huge paragraphs. But I always seem to let the updates pile up until I have no choice but to make a wall of text. Here is your wall of text: (Special thanks to Hydro who drew Ingo and I holiday cards even though they never made it to our place *grumble *grumble*)

  • This year has been a year of firsts really. First time living with a boyfriend, First time with Hookah, Discovering Kratum, and first time going to a couple of hard core EDM shows.  We went n saw 1)infected mushroom, 2)Diesel boy, 3)Carl Cox at the Midway in San Fransisco. I can confidently tell you that Ive been slammed in a mosh pit, nearly puked in a bar trash bin, took my gold hat and cut a rug dead center of the blast area of the sub woofers. Little people in suits and ties playing with finger lights, old 70 year old men in military dress blues rocking a whiskey to the hardest shit you’ve ever heard. Face painters, and random dudes fishing for MDMA. People coming to dance wearing only bra and panties, and some people dressed as dinosaurs chilling out to the high powered sound system. Shit didn’t stop till 3Am either. What I will say about Infected mushroom was that it was really cool to see the team, especially the guy who played the guitar on stage. I love some of their singles and could hear them sampling songs from their library. As far as the set went, It was good- yet I prefer their singles more. That crowd was more about the Psychedelic theme in nature: Weirdos and hippies. We left near the end of their set exhausted but excited for more. Ingo introduced me to Diesel Boy, a world renowned Drum & base DJ who tore up the floor at the DNA lounge while people outside roamed the street looking for the GDC after parties. We saw The Carl Cox last Friday and sweated it out for 6 hours to the most electrifying house music this side of the pond. This crowd was more horny and a lot more druggy then the other shows, but everyone was enjoying themselves. Everyone. It didn’t matter that you had to fight your way to the bar to get a drink, you did it- and you got the fuck back in there. I recommend you go to a EDM show at least once.  Just don’t get caught bringing in outside liquor.

***This month I’m taking off for the 12 continuing education credits I need to earn to keep my day job. Its going to take about 2 weeks to do. So I only have room to make the minor changes to the finished Atoll comic. I’ll be back in May to continue Prince Tomcat/Calamity comic while I work with Ingo to learn the 2018 version of Blender.

***Atoll Lab short story Is officially done for now. This weekend I intend to edit a couple of pages towards the beginning/middle for quality and contrast. If you liked the 2 porn pages currently showing in the Atoll Tab, You have 1 week to save the original versions. No dialogue will be edited, so it is safe to read from front to back.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this project. I started this comic in April of 2015 during the beginning of my 2nd year of medical school. It has taken a ridiculously long time, one page a weekend in between requests and other things I owed. I started a patreon to showcase these comic arts and It got me through a particularly stressful 3 trimesters. Originally meant to be a mechaphillia porn comic, I advanced the story, and realized pretty quick that I had grown beyond this basic idea. I fell in love with the world I had made up. And so I resolved to just finish my thoughts here, independent of whether or not anyone would take interest. Some of you did, and I am very happy.

Special thanks to Cerebralerror, Gunnerrott, for turning the shitty dry ass k-rations I call dialogue into something manageable. Good editors/proofreaders are valuable and should be squirreled away when you find them. Shout out to the love of my life Aeroingo, who took time out of his music career to talk me down, and prop me up when I felt like shit some days. And shout out to GhettoDan who is helping me with Russian translations.

  • In February, I took Ingo and May to see what was to be my first Broadway show. I couldn’t have started with a better show either, That’s right: I saw The book of Mormon. It was fan-fucking-tastic. A collaboration between Robert Lopez, Trey Parker, and Matt Stone, the guys painted a hilarious story of a young Mormon missionary who dreams of being sent to Orlando Florida so he could visit Disneyland while doing his missionary work. Instead He is teamed up with a sidekick whilst being sent to Uganda where 80% of the poor black African villagers had AIDS. The people walk around starving under the tyranny of a local drug warlord (who shoots people in the face). The two young Mormon elders must reconcile their differences and deliver the small Ugandan town from Evil. Great songs, Great laughs, and interludes where Jesus spoke to the audience with the voice of Cartman from south park. Go see this show if you possibly can, Its incredibly worth it. But beware of scalpers who May end up buying out the theaters only to turn around and sell them through a re-seller at twice the price. I learned the hard way that the only way to get cheap tickets to hot shows is to camp the shows websites waiting to strike the moment they drop.

  • Recently re-discovered one of the very early childhood books I read before I even knew how to tell time. I wasn’t sure what conversation lead to me to scour the internet for the name of this, but with assistance I was able to remember just how far back the living machine thing possibly went.  Mike Mulligan and his steam shovel named” Marry Anne” (the machine is a girl!). While I cant remember what the story was about, the face of the shovel really burned into me as this friendly amazing..thing. Almost like she was this huge dragon that loved her human enough to work her treads off. I think the story was maybe based off the industrial revolution?? But kudos to the artist. In any case, was their was a book, commercial, movie about living machines that might have sparked all of you guys as young impressionable kids? If so I’d love to hear it.

  • Lastly, My boyfriend and I started the kedo diet around the end of January. For those not acquainted with the kedogenic diet, It involves adhering to a strict carbohydrate cap of 40-50 grams of carbs a day. The idea of the diet, is to cycle out your readily available sugar reserves and starve out the gut bacteria that craves and uses the sugar before it uses fats. We started the diet, and gym late January and now I am proud to announce that as of April 4rth I have lost 55lbs. Ahead of schedule in my 100lbs loss before the end of the year. ;;thumbs up; If you are looking to get serious about weight loss, and are willing to give up carbs for a year or two, Check out this link: https://www.ruled.me/guide-keto-diet/
