It’s Interstellar for Weaboos

I wanted to mention that I saw interstellar last weekend on a recommendation for a few people. The movie itself garners a solid 80% on rotten but The final straw was when Qwerty/Jake mentioned that they had sentient robots in the film. I took to the streets in the rain and partook of this Christopher Nolan film which honestly was quite good. The plot very much reminded me of this generations “2001: A space odyssey” with some story  nods to the movie “Contact” and a few visual nods to the movie “Gravity”.  The basic premise of the movie is that Humanity has used the earth up, and with the continuing blight of crops and dusty winds, we only have a short time before everyone starves to death. Top NASA scientists were put to the task with solving the problem with current technology, but needed more time and answers from space. The main character is asked to journey out through an unknown wormhole to find out if life on other discovered planets is even possible. They must do this and make it back before everyone on earth dies.

The movie was awesome, and didn’t fall back onto any sort of religious themes about God, or the afterlife, or even aliens, like many movies of its type usually do. Its just a movie about human survival and trans-dimension. The part I liked the most about the movie besides the time differential, and the different planetscapes, were the robots. There were 2 helper robots in the movie called TARS and CASE, and they are honestly the BEST representation of AI machines that have appeared in a serious movie in a long time. Rather then make them look like cyborg cops, or androids, the Director made them look very practice like Swiss army knives. They are capable of running by spinning upon themselves and they can manipulate and carry any object. These machines are incredibly witty too. Jokes often happen to break the heaviness of certain scenes. Even though They constantly remind you that they are robots, but they are quite sentient in thought and speech patterns in a non eerie way. It really added to the much needed futuristic element to the film. the 2 robots below have their own personalities, and i hope they give the same amount of care to sentient robots in future movies as they gave to these guys. (btw there is a small but budding Tumblr following for Tars and case, if you are interested go here: https://www.tumblr.com/search/tars+casetumblr_nf6pp9ovSa1sf7yfuo1_1280

Speaking of interstellar, I finally FINALY got around to watching one of the quintessential classics of Japanese anime robot history: Gunbuster. In team speak chat, A guy named Megasjs billed it as “Interstellar for weaboos” and I now having watched the 6 episode OVA through youtube can honestly say it too is fucking great. This OVA was created in 1988 by GAINAX and directed by Hideaki Anno (of Neon genesis evangelion fame) and boy,  they don’t make anime like this anymore.  Its a time from when everything was hand drawn and super high quality for its time, Big 80’s poof haircuts, scrunchie, and swimsuits plus rotoscoped ship lights. It is a quintessential anime for anyone to watch (not just Giant robot enthusiasts) so if you are interested in starting, the show is short and sweet and you can find all of it here:

Last but not least, I received a passive death threat this week over my Machine porn. All of this began several months ago, and came to a head 2 days ago when I posted one of my newest arts on DA in an attempt to entice one of their users over to titan. The particulars right now are not important but just goes to show, The internet is chock full of bat shit crazy, and even something as completely unimportant as  vehicle rule 34 can make certain mentally unstable people a problem.

It’s nice and all until a jet goes super sonic directly over your house at one in the morning.

One thing I like about living next to a military base is that I see jets and tanks every day. It’s awesome when I see the jet fly low enough to wave at the pilot.

Holy shit this is beastiality… Ok I’m fine with that. Although I’d rather stick it in a machine than a human, and I have pretty much no money to really go anywhere… And APPARENTLY there’s a production Tiger II never even painted right-off-the-line somewhere around where I live with complete working order owned by a 90+ year old WWII veteran that takes it to reenactments, which is how my friend found it, and he’s pretty well off and is going to be buried with one of it’s original ’88 shells when he dies. The only catch, and with my fucking cursed luck, he hesitantly will probably leave it to his son, also apparently an army general, up in Kentucky or some place like that, not so bad except I have no way of getting there and the son isn’t fond of history at all, and especially dislikes WWII and would probably scrap this awesome machine. The current owner has been thinking of donating it to a museum, however, I have only heard this from a friend, and trust me I flipped shit for not being told earlier and how close it apparently is and what it’s possible fate is. I hope my friends right and the owner donates it to a museum. If he does I take a FUCK TON of photos and drool all over and aw shit I’m hard now.

It was an odd concept to me, seeing a person basically having sex with a car and that didn’t appeal to me at the time. Then i stumbled across wsaches disproportionate living machines found it interesting, met some people on DA who where into that kind of thing, did some -or at least tried to do- RP’s with them involving living machines, and eventually found your art. which is totally not the reason i want to spend a bunch of money to go to the bovington tank museum, feel up a tiger and King tiger -and any other tanks which catch my fancy-, and then examining there bathrooms for a little wile.
and now i would just as readily stick my dick into a tank/plane/boat/car/train as i would a human woman XD

Interstellar was an amazing movie, though one thing that bugged me was the whole orchestral sweeps, they where awesome, except when its in the middle of a conversation XD
Unfortunately there will always be hatred towards art regardless of what it is -i will admit that at first i was opposed to living machine on human art and now i cant get enough of the stuff XD- but Best of luck and chances are this is some one who likes to chew there tongue a bunch and doesn’t do much more.

Damn, death-threats. They’re always fun, aren’t they? Unfortunate that your art garners such negative attention. My tastes have always been more inline with your TF works, but even when something you put up doesn’t fit with my likes I’m always thrilled to see the artwork in general because holy shit you draw amazingly well. XD I’m going to give Interstellar a look now as well, so thanks for posting your thoughts on it!
