Been a good week full of weight loss and ship gain. Started weight watchers and got on a stringent points regiment. Ended up loosing 8 lbs combined with hitting the ellipticals at the gym with my dad (although he will fucking kill me for missing today). RSI had a caterpillar sale and I traded my Gladiator and Cutlass for it (Kudos to you Cerial).
Anyway tonight I discovered that tumblr was just sold to yahoo and they are aggressively dumping all the porn off the site. If you were one of the few tumblr’s I visited for robot art you may wanna think about getting a word press site of your own soon (and sadly this means I wont be leaving titan until the stipend runs dry). Although most of those ppl got their shit from pixiv, My french Friend had linked me to some really good art repositories that are now completely gone.
In other news My new new computer has been ordered and it will be here October 3rd for which I am super excited. It’s been 4-5 months without a standard computer and I am hungry to make some forealz art again. I thank the roommate for giving me an old apple server to access school work on, but you cant really play games or do high res art on this (I don’t think) let alone even run the Star citizen hangar.

This blog Is fairly shamelessly biased toward Asian robot art. The reason why is a little convoluted and weighs heavily upon taste, but I can tell you that historically western robot art falls more on the practical side of industrial design over looks. Asian robots for animations and games are way more whimsical, anthropomorphic, and designed with primal archetypes in mind. They aren’t practical, they are giant samurai warriors on 2 legs with huge shoulder pads wielding wholly unrealistic weaponry for the sheer awesomeness and hot-blood of it all. I stopped hanging out in virtually all the social circles I used to with the one exception, the extremely successful kick starter game known as ‘star citizen”

In this chat room are hardcore gamers who have spent thousands of dollars pledging for a project that they believe in, and that is Spaceships. Ive noticed however, in the people I meet and the types of conversations that I have, that my fetish inappropriately creeps into conversations. It begins innocently enough, even topical, But I’ll subconsciously or not almost always find a way to bring up my metal fetish. Most people are very accepting of the weirdness that comes with adulthood, but one out of 6 ppl I just plain scare off. Yes, I have turned into an “Internet creeper”. The internet equivalent of The kind of guy you see in a long coat at the porno shop masturbating through his pants pocket at the pictures on the back of the DVD boxes. Its totally stupid because the odds of me ever finding another person with my same exact interest on the internet are very very slim (even though I have indeed met other mecha fetishistas) I should really just keep my mouth shut.

1 more thing, I added a new entry into the “found art” gallery which didn’t take very long at all. What really bothers me is how Pixiv hasn’t changed in the slightest. Of the 87 people I watch, at least 60 of them are also into kiddy porn. Why does good mecha fan art and deep psychological problems go hand in hand? I only bring this up because my love of anime has tanked well into the shitter, and this pedophilia stuff I truly believe is the part of the cancer that is killing the medium (Japanese cultural difference be damned) .

I was considering abandoning my sites a month ago when Godaddy informed me that my cc info was derelict. I was also going to move away from this hosting to someone else due to how slow everything started to run when I was updating regularly.. but I didn’t even do that. I just sort of let everything rot on the vine and I feel extremely bad for anyone who was following my comic when I had stopped updating. Unemployment is a hellova thing.

Not having a computer for 3 months is also a hellova thing. And ever since Ive gone back to school seeking a medical degree, a Huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I no longer have to become a professional artist or even care about what people think. I can now just be shitty and happy and a total pervert.

I recently finished with a month long project I did pro-Bono for a couple of men who are roughly tied to the movie industry. A boss of someone I know met the men at Sun dance film festival and got them in contact with me over a possible web comic job pending pitch and project funding over at Cannes Film festival going on this week. I am extremely grateful for the recommendation, and Hope this actually leads to some paying full time work. what troubles me now however, Is that my job is over and I am no better off then I was December of last year. Today I reinstalled painter 11 and restored my brush defaults in an attempt to start something new. I opened up the starship picture I had finished months ago and screwed around with it again on and off looking to my favorite pixiv artist for inspiration. I am not totally sure what I will start drawing tomorrow but the words of the people around me  echo deep inside my head. “I should stop drawing what I think people want to see and start drawing for me.” You’d think after 10 years this would have gotten easier, but even as the last people I worked with sang my praises, at crunch time the tune had changed. “Are you sure you are the artist? Get the artist that drew that original face.” ” your style is very anime-ish.. maybe that is the problem.”  If people want me to be myself, why are the comments so contradictory, and why am I faulted for wanting to change my art style so much? realistically, things were said in a slight panic over the final days of deadline and I shouldn’t hold this slight bit of criticism over anyone’s head. It’s just, well.. I don’t have very thick skin.

As for porn, I want to draw another picture, but I hesitate because I fear of how absurd is would actually look to portray someone being ravished by a starship. The ideas in my head are pretty damn hot, but without considerable effort the visual interpretation would just look like some common tentacle rape porn bullshit you’d find on 4chan etc. As such Ive not really entertained any new porn pictures save for the occasional random woman being fucked by an armored core mech over the warm barrel of a large cannon or something.

Been a while since I made an update so I figured that Putting my Project up here would be a good start. First I have to say, thanks from the bottom of my heart to all those who either commissioned me or donated money over these slow 3 months. The rent for all the websites came up a few days ago and I was able to renew because of you guys with the only bad news being that I’ll have to stick with who I have for 12 more months (yes I know the sites are slow ).

In January I got some visits from my overseas buddies and we went hung out at the Furtherconfusion convention in San Jose drawing and soliciting, Hugs and kisses to you Ken and Tamara!( Love the Soulgain and Arios model you built for me mwhhaa)

extra special Good news, I am back on assistance for the time being (due to good legal cause) and I’m beginning to churn out some color artwork that Ill put up here soon. Been working on a sexy spaceship picture that’s about 80% finished, and ill put it up soon as I get to B.Coons python character ink. Its been 2.1 months since Ive had stable work and I had to take a double dose of fluxo today just to leave the house. Everyday has been a chore just to leave the bed and leave my room. And Since September 30th nothing has gone right, My unemployment fell through, cant qualify for snap, and my older former employer keeps telling me “we’ll call you.”

My friends and family keep trying to call me, But I just cant face them. I’m sorry people, I know you are just trying to see how I am doing, But its very hard to be optimistic right now.

As for the artwork, its true that Ive fallen behind. Im on my last pic for Andey but it has been difficult to draw mecha H when feeling prosperous and sexual is the very last thing happening to you. I guess I’ll probably go hide out at Peet’s coffee and attempt to finish it today, after that I don’t know what I’m going to do.

Well folks, Here we are: week 2 of unemployment, My sleep schedule is all fucked up, and my company (who hasn’t officially fired me, is giving me the run around.) I’m kind of at a loss of what to do right now and while i have a lot of extraordinary help in my life, I’m short on funds in a Big bad way. The websites are payed up through the beginning of march so no worry’s there yet, and a fellow mechaphile “Jane-sama” came through for me enough to make rent. If I can just get one more commission this month I’ll be in better shape, But this brings up an on going problem I now must face. If my new career is going to be as an artist, I’ll need around 10 solid commissions a month (hopefully more then just porn) just to survive and that means building my clientele, shifting the focus of my art back to monsters and setting up kick-starter accounts to save my comic and make a book. In this economy that is not an easy feat even if your semi good at it. So I’m kind of scared right now.. It be really nice if my employer actually Got back to me like I keep hoping they will, at least then I could get some hours and claim under-employment. Sorry for the TMI.

I was in a terrible funk last week over what happened with me and my boss and decided to visit /m/ out of boredom. Occasionally, I do encounter some gems but rarely do I ever come across a piece of sheer polished platinum such as this: Rockman Megamix/Gigamix by Hitoshi Ariga.

I want you robot fans to take a good look at the cover of this manga, especially if you are a classic Megaman fan because THIS here, this is the Creme of the crop, THIS is the Pise’ la resitance. When I saw someone post page samples to this manga I thought to myself  “Great this is going to be another Bass/Proto man jerk expose”. Instead I did a little research and found the first part of this series through The manga fox website: Megamix and dove into it with a “try before I buy” attitude. What I found was something so true to the core of the original game story I couldn’t help but be taken back and wonder why something like this wasn’t available 10-15 years ago when I was huge into the fandom. The manga fills in the atmosphere of the futureistic world and focuses primarily on the robots with their individual personalities. Weather fighting on the side of Good or evil the robots relationships with their human creators and with themselves is what I had hoped the lack-luster  American cartoon could have captured but failed miserably. Huge honorable mention goes out to the sheer development between the 3 robot scientists Wily, Dr.Light and Dr. Cossack who frequently appear quite a lot and have their own complex back story touched upon in the volumes. According to Udon Entertainment’s website, “this was agreed upon to be the best of all the mega man mangas ” And being so grateful to have discovered this artist I’ll say, Hell yes it is. with A clever mix of grim-dark and a sprinkling of comedy goodness,  I hope that you’l check out the website with the picture samples and decide to pick up the hard copies from amazon.com or so: GIGAMIX Samples

This comic is still an awesome read even if you never experienced the classic megaman games, if your a sentient robot fan, YOU WILL enjoy this. Bare warning, the final volume of Gigamix wont be out for another 30 days so be patient and pre order a copy from Amazon.com
